In a move away from the traditional DVLA number plate auction format - the DVLA have launched (and today conluded) a sealed bid auction for 1500 cherished number plates of varying quality and with varying reserves.
The DVLA auction 1500 number plates 6 times a year in the traditional format and hold a live auction event usually in a picturesque location.
The DVLA sealed bids auction may be the beginning of a more profitable avenue for the DVLA and only the results - published Monday 3rd November 2008 will testify.
